  • The Department of Medical Electronics conducted an expert lecture on “Medical Image Analysis” 23rd March 2022, in association with the IIC, ISTE & IETE Students Forum and SRM VEC- CSI students’ branch in online mode (MS Teams Platform).   Dr. J .Mohan, Associate Professor / MDE and coordinator delivered the welcome address. He introduced chief guest of the event. Dr.E.Priya, Professor / ECE, Sri Sairam Engineering College started the session with image basis, the need of pictorial representation rather than other techniques.

  • ​The department of ECE conducted “Seminar on RF for Future Wireless Communications” for ECE students on 16th  March 2022 via online mode (Microsoft Teams) in association with IIC, ISTE, IETE student’s forum & SRM VEC CSI student branch. The welcome address is given by Mr.R.Dhananjeyan, Assistant Professor(O.G).The speaker Ms. R.M. Senthil Priya, Assistant Professor-ECE, R.M.D Engineering College, Chennai, delivered seminar on “RF for Future Wireless Communications”. He presented and interacted with the Participants  about the origin of Communication, Classified ionized and non-ionized radiation, Future Communication of LiFi, Integrated Communication and Sensing systems, Basics of Flexible antennas and Material selection of Flexible Antennas. About 127 participants were participated in that seminar.

  • The III year Medical Electronics students went to an Observational Visit to SIMS Hospital, Vadapalani, Chennai on 04th March 2022 and 5th March 2022 accompanied by Mr.S.Satheeswaran/ AP (O.G) and Dr.J.Mohan/ Asso.Prof. This observational visit was helpful for the students to gain knowledge in the Medical equipment’s.

  • The department of ECE conducted motivational talk on “Emotional Intelligence” for third year ECE and Medical Electronics students on 1st March 2022 via online mode (Microsoft Teams) in association with IIC, ISTE, IETE student’s forum & SRM VEC CSI student branch. The welcome address was given by Dr. N.Usha Bhanu, Professor & Coordinator with the introduction of the resource person to the participants. The speaker Ms. S. Aruna, Market Research Analyst Freelancer, Chennai delivered talk on “Emotional Intelligence”. She presented and interacted with students about the need of Emotional Intelligence in career and personal life for the wellbeing of the individual.

  • The department of ECE has signed MoU with SRM Institutes for Medical Sciences (SIMS), Chennai on 28th February 2022. This MoU helps Observational Visit to learn the diagnosing equipments, training to enhance the skills and knowledge of the students in the latest medical equipments.

  • A Motivational talk was conducted by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for second year ECE and Medical Electronics students in association with ISTE & IETE Students forum on 28th February 2022 through online mode.  This webinar was coordinated by Dr. J.Mohan, Associate Professor and he has delivered a welcome address and  Dr. C.Amali, Assistant Professor has given the brief introduction of the Resource Person. The speaker Ms. Ms. Pavithra Satheesh, Process & Quality Department of Kryptos Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Velachery, Chennai., our college alumni of 2004-2008 batch, gave a wonderful illustrated presentation on Discover Self to Experience world.

  • The department of ECE conducted motivational talk on “Communication Industry Vision” for final year ECE students on 24.02.2022 via online mode (Microsoft Teams) in association with IIC, ISTE, IETE student’s forum & SRM VEC CSI student branch. The welcome address is given by Dr. S. Ramesh, Associate Professor. The speaker Ms. Premnath M S, Senior Solutions Specialist, Ericsson Global Services, Chennai, delivered talk on “Communication Industry Vision”. He presented and interacted with students about the progress of telecommunication industry & career preparation towards core companies. 

  • The department of ECE has signed MoU with Vi Microsystems, Pvt. Ltd Chennai on 15th February 2022. This MoU helps Observational Visit to learn the various concepts in the  Electronics domain.

  • The Department of ECE arranged a Virtual Industrial Visit for our Second Year ECE & MDE students on “Control Systems in Electrical and Electronic Equipment’s” to RLT Instrumentation Pvt., Ltd., Chengalpattu on 20th January 2022. The resource person Mr.T.Nirmal Mathew, Project Coordinator, RLT Instrumentation Pvt., Ltd., explained the operation, technical specifications and measurements like speed, velocity, difference of the transit time of ultrasonic pulses, coverage of volume and area of the fluid taken from the Electromagnetic flow meter, Ultrasonic Inline flow meter, Vortex flow meter and Woltman type water meter respectively by the analog and digital displays.

  • The Department of ECE arranged a Virtual Industrial Visit for our Third Year ECE & MDE students on “RF Systems and its Applications in Communication” to Entuple Technologies, Bangalore on 8th January 2022. The resource person Mr.K.Karthikeyan, Application Engineer, Entuple Technologies, explained the design of high frequency components using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).

  • The Department of ECE conducted a Personality Development Programme for teaching staff members on 7th January 2022 .The resource person, Dr. Komala James, Professor & HOD, Department of ECE, SRM Valliammai Engineering College, presented a session on “Encourage, Empower and Excel in Professional Life”. In the programme she emphasized the importance of  Positive Energy, Stress Management, Brain Detox, Brain exercise, Breathing exercise and Eye exercise, and it was practiced by all the participants. 26 Staff members attended this programme and the programme was coordinated by Dr.N.Subhashini, Assistant Professor (Sel.G)/ECE.

  • The Department of ECE arranged a Virtual Industrial Visit for our Final Year ECE students on “Embedded & Real Time Systems and its Applications” to Geek Wave Solution, Chennai on 5th January 2022. The resource person Mr. G. Suresh Kumar from Geek Wave Solution, explained the components of an Embedded systems and Wi-Fi IoT smart system

  • The Department of ECE conducted a one-day Staff Skill Development Programme (SDP) for our college Non-teaching staff members on 30.12.2021.The resource person, Dr. Komala James, Professor & HOD, Department of ECE, SRM Valliammai Engineering College, presented on “Holistic Development and Human Values”. In the programme Brain exercise, Breathing exercise and Eye exercise were taught by her, which were practiced by all the participants, The Programme was coordinated by Dr.J.Mohan, Asso Professor/MDE. 11 Staff members from various departments attended the staff Skill Development Programme.

  • The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a Webinar on “Ancient Communication techniques to Undersea Fiber Optic Communication around the Globe” in association with Industry-Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC), Institution Innovation Council (IIC), ISTE, IETE Student’s Forum and SRM VEC – CSI Student Branch for the benefit of our students to enhance their knowledge in the Communication field, on 18th December 2021. Dr.Komala James, Professor & Head delivered the welcome address and Mr. S. Mari Rajan, A.P-ECE, IIPC Coordinator introduced the Resource person Mr. K.Nellai Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Retired), TATA Communications. The Resource person delivered the speech about the developments in Transmission Media which included the earliest PSTN, Mobile communication, Wireless communication, Satellite communication, Undersea fiber optic communication from one continent to another continent. About 104 students and the faculty of the department participated in the session.

  • The Department of ECE conducted a School Orientation Programme on ‘Opportunities in Engineering Career’ on 12.07.2021 through online mode (Microsoft Teams) in association with IIC, ISTE, IETE Students Forum & SRM VEC CSI Student Branch. The event coordinator Mr. M. Selvaraj, A.P (O.G) gave the welcome address and introduced the guest speakers. The Guest speaker Ms. K. Nikitha, Software Analyst, Accenture, Chennai delivered a motivational speech on ‘Importance of Engineering degree’ and she pointed out the available courses after 12th standard. The Session was further carried out by the Guest speaker Ms. G. Nivetha, Application Development Engineer at Mindtree, Chennai and she shared her experience in college life, job opportunities available in the industries, developing skills in engineering platform. This Orientation programme was coordinated and completed successfully by Mr. M. Selvaraj, A.P.(O.G) - MDE and M. A. Seenivasan, A.P.(O.G) - MDE under the guidance of Dr. Komala James, Prof & Head of the ECE. The event coordinator Mr. M. A. Seenivasan, A.P (O.G) proposed the vote of thanks.

  • The Department of ECE conducted a One-day Skill Development Programme for Non-Teaching staff members on 28.05.2021. Dr. N. Subhashini, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, SRM Valliammai Engineering College, delivered the presentation on the ‘Getting Started with Tinker CAD’ and it covers Tinker CAD workspace overview, step by step on learning Tinkercad basics, and also created some actual project design in electric and electrons circuits. The session was very motivated and beneficial to all attended Staff members (24) from various departments. The Programme was coordinated by Dr.J.Mohan, Asso Professor/MDE.

  • The Department of ECE conducted 5 days online Faculty Development Programme on the ‘Signal Processing Systems & Optical Communication’ to the faculty members in association with IIC, ISTE & IETE Students Forum to share and improve their skills on subjects effectively in online mode teaching during 17.05.2021 to 21.05.2021 in Microsoft Teams platform. Dr. Komala James, Professor and Head delivered the welcome address and commenced the programme. The invited speakers Dr. N. Usha Bhanu, Prof Dr. G. Udhayakumar Assoc Prof, V. Sureshkumar, Asst Prof, Dr. C. Amali, Asst Prof, Mr. C. Satheeswaran, Asst Prof, Dr. J. Mohan, Assoc Prof and Mr.S.Mari Rajan, Asst Prof, Mr.M.Selvaraj, Asst Prof have engaged sessions with different subject areas to the participants. Dr. N. Subhashini, Asst Prof/ECE and Mr. C. Satheeswaran, Asst Prof/ECE were coordinated the programme successfully.

  • As part of a virtual 2nd International conference on the ‘Smart Automation in Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ICSA-2021), The Dept of ECE received around 58 research papers in five technical tracks.The Session Chairs, In-charges and Moderators of each tracks were organized the paper presentations and brought to the end at on time. Eventually they have declared the best paper awards at the end of the session as per the guidelines given by committee members. The Programme and Session In charges of ICSA 2021 Dr. J. Mohan /Associate Professor, Mr. S. Mari Rajan /Assistant Professor, and Internal Advisory Member-ICSA 2021 Dr. Komala James, Professor and Head/ECE has given proper guidelines and arrangement to the Chairpersons, Moderators, and participants for successful completion of the programme.

  • A  School Orientation Programme on an ‘A Seminar by our Engineers to the Future Engineers’ was conducted by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with ISTE, IETE, CSI and IIC students Forum to the Higher Secondary School students for creating an awareness on various options after 12th Standard and Engineering courses on 10th April 2021 at 6:00 pm in online mode via Microsoft Teams. Dr. Komala James, Professor & Head, ECE department addressed the gathering and Mrs.K.Sobana, AP delivered the welcome address to the audience and introduced Chief Guests. Ms. R. Karthiga, Mr. R. Gokula kannan, Mr. S. Subash, Final year ECE students delivered their valuable suggestions to twelfth grade students. The program was concluded with vote of thanks given by Ms. S. Surabhi, Asst. Prof/MDE.

  • Mr. D. Murugesan, Asst Prof/ECE coordinated the Department level Project Expo 2021 to explore students’ project skill on 01.04.2021. The committee members Dr. H. Krishnan, Head of Physics, Dr. L. Devaraj Stephan, Head of Chemistry, Dr. R. Karthick, Assoc Prof/ EEE and Dr. Komala James, Prof and Head of ECE scrutinized the listed projects based on criteria such as presentation, individual and team contribution, ability to respond the queries, innovation and implementation of projects on Project Exhibition Day and then they declared the winner project titled on ‘A prototype device for Medicine Disbursement and Sanitization in COVID zones’ done by D.Sowbaghya, S.Tamilselvi , S.Theepaloshini, and R.Thooyavan under supervision of Dr. N. Usha Bhanu, Prof/ECE.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted a hands on training in ‘Robotics’ in association with ISTE, IIC, IETE Students forum to the students to improve practical skills on Robotics on 22.03.2021.The invited Speaker Mr. Vignesh Ramachandran, Founder, K-Botix Robo Tech Centre, Chennai delivered speech about why is robotics needed?, Robotics control loop and its working mechanism based on fed programme inside the chip. He explained that Robotics is an interdisciplinary field that integrates computer science and engineering. Robotics involves design, construction, operation, and use of robots. The goal of robotics is to design machines that can help and assist humans. Also, he added few points on job opportunities in embedded and robotics platform. Dr. V. Suresh kumar/AP and Mr. A. Anbarasan/AP coordinated the event successfully.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted a Value Added Course to the students on an ‘Advanced Modeling and Simulation tools for Electronic circuits’ for the academic year 2020-2021 (Even Semester) on 13.02.21, 20.02.21 & 13.03.21 (3 Days). Mr. A. Pandian/AP, Mr. A. Anbarasan/AP, Mr. V. Prasannan/AP and Mr. R. Nagaraj/AP handled the sessions about simulation tools - Sci-lab-xcos, e-sim, DSCH, Microwind, and Deeds for Electronic Circuits and programme was coordinated by Mr. D. Murugesan/AP.

  • Medical Electronics branch conducted a Value added Course to the students on ‘Image Processing for Medical Applications using CVIP tools’ for the academic year 2020-2021 (Even Semester) on 13.02.21, 20.02.21 & 13.03.21. Dr. N. Ushabhanu/Prof, Dr. J. Mohan/Asso Prof, Ms. S. Surabhi/AP delivered the lectures on the Medical Image Processing using Python, Enhancement, segmentation techniques and Practical approach to abnormality detection in medical images and programme was coordinated by Ms. V. P. Sandhya/AP.

  • As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, the Dept of ECE conducted a webinar on the ‘Building Immunity by siddha mudra’ in association with IETE Chennai Centre and Student Affairs Cell of SRM VEC to the students and faculty members to improve their immunity power on 10.03.2021. Dr.Komala James, Prof & Head delivered welcome address to all the participants, Dr. N. Usha Bhanu, Prof and student affairs cell introduced Chief Guest Dr. Salai Jaya Kalpana, Founder & Director, Siddha Forest. The Resource person explained the details structure of Mudra types and yoga practice. Dr. M. Murugan, Prof & Vice Principal pointed out few points on Yoga Practice and how it is widely used in Indian religions and culture as well as spiritual perfection.  The Chairman, IETE Chennai Centre also attended this programe. Dr. N. Subhashini, Assistant Professor and Mr. C. Saravana Kumar Assitant Professor coordinated the event successfully.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted a workshop on 'Arduino Programming' in Microsoft teams in association with IIC, ISTE, CSI and IETE Students forum to the students on 10.03.2021. Dr. Komala James Prof & Head delivered welcome address and Mr. V. Prasanan, Asst Prof introduced chief guest Mr. Sam Thomas, Research scholar, Anna University, Chennai. The Chief Guest delivered a lecture on Arduino IDE for different Arduino boards and Arduino programming language based on C and python. Dr. J. Mohan, Associate Professor ended the session with vote of thanks. They coordinated and successfully completed the programme.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted an 18th National Level Technical Symposium TARAS 2K21 through online mode in Microsoft Teams on 20th February 2021 in association with IIC, ISTE & IETE Students’ Forum and SRM VEC - CSI Student Branch. The Student officials of TARAS 2K21 delivered the welcome address and highlighted the Symposium events. Dr. Komala James, Prof & Head delivered the presidential address and inaugurated the function. The students from various institutions participated the events such as Circuit Debugging and Technical Quiz through online mode using open source platform and win the prizes accordingly. Mr. T. V. Sudhir/AP, Mr. V. Prasanan/AP, Mrs. S. R. Preethi/AP and Mr. S. Subash & Ms. Karthiga final year Students organized the events successfully. The Paper Presentation was done into the panel of judges by internal and external participants on 13.03.2021 via MS Teams.The event was coordinated by Mr. M. Selvaraj/AP and Mrs.S.Abirami/AP.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted an Expert lecture on the title 'Advancements in VLSI' in association with ISTE, IIC, IETE Students forum to the students on 11.02.2021.The Guest Speaker Ms. Pranitha karthikeyan, Research scholar, CEG Campus, Anna University delivered a speech on the recent trends in design and manufacturing of Very Large Scale Integrated circuits and  explained about an ongoing move towards smaller devices like prevailing CMOS technology to Finfet technology on increasing wafer dimensions. Mr. S. Senthilmurugan, Assistant Professor and Mrs. K. Durgadevi, Assistant Professor coordinated the event successfully with the guidelines of Dr. Komala James, Prof & Head.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted an Expert lecture on 'Semiconductor Testing' in association with ISTE, IIC, IETE Students forum to the students to develop skills on VLSI Circuits Testing on 08.02.2021.The invited Speaker Mr. J. Anand, alumnus (2009 batch), Senior Testing Engineer, Qualcomm, Singapore delivered speech about life cycle of silicon manufacturing, Real world circuits and it's testing process versus circuits probing and finally he added few points on job opportunities in testing areas to the students.  Mr. A. Pandian/AP ended the session with vote of thanks. Dr. G. Udhayakumar, Asso Prof and Mr. A. Pandian, AP coordinated the event with the guidelines of Dr. Komala James, Prof  & Head.

  • The Dept of ECE conducted a Motivational Talk for third year students to enhance their skills on the future jobs in core companies like semiconductor and VLSI industries on 03.02.2021. The invited Speaker Mr. Pratheep Joe, alumnus (2011batch), Senior Design Verification Engineer, Intel Corporation California, USA delivered a speech on the title 'Get obsessed with semiconductors' in that he explained his career journey, choosing right specialization & career path and provided ideas to get job in core industries and required skills to develop future of computing to the students. Mr. M. Selvaraj, Asst Prof ended the session with vote of thanks and Dr. G. Udhayakumar, Associate Prof coordinated the event successfully with the guidelines of Dr. Komala James, Prof & Head.

  • The Department of ECE conducted motivational talk on ‘Career Design-Set/Reset’ for final year students on 01.02.2021 via online mode (Microsoft Teams) in association with ISTE Chapters & IETE students’ forum. A cordial welcome address is delivered to the participants by Dr. Komala James, Professor  & Head. The Speaker Mr. Muthuswamy Venkatraman, Engineering Technician, Qualcomm, San Diego, California, United States delivered a speech on ‘Career Design-Set/Reset’. He provided speech about changing life in the future and move from being scared, reluctant, fearful, and exhausted to purposely and consciously rethinking and designing a fulfilled life & career. The end of the session he was interacted with students about life during and after under graduation, actual job, time and money management, learn life skills, some lessons and mistakes. About 148 students from final year and faculty of the department participated in the session. This event was coordinated and completed successfully by Dr. S. Ramesh, Associate Professor-ECE under the guidance of Dr. Komala James, Professor & Head of the ECE.

  • A Motivational talk was conducted by the Dept of ECE & Medical Electronics Branch to the second year students in association with ISTE & IETE Students forum on 1st February 2021 through online mode. Dr. Komala James, Professor & Head delivered a cordial welcome address to the students. The invited speaker Ms. G. Hemavinotheni, Alumnus (2010-2014), Resourcing and Analytics lead at EMIS Health, Chennai delivered a wonderful illustrated presentation on ‘Choose the Right Inspiration’ in career path. She extended her speech on an importance of engineering courses and higher degree education like master and doctorate degree and its values in the core industries as well as public sector jobs. Also she has enlighten how to choose the right inspiration in remarkable way, how to face failure and how to look today challenges. Dr. C. Amali, Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) coordinated the event and extended thanks to the resource person and the participants.
